Uronex Damp Coat

Uronex Damp Coat is a fiber-reinforced elastomeric liquid-applied waterproofing membrane. It is formulated with select elastomeric and resilient acrylic polymers and reinforcing polyester fibers. Upon curing, it forms a thick, seamless, durable membrane, thus offering ultimate waterproofing. Damp proofing is a process that prevents moisture from entering a building, primarily from the ground, and protects the structure from damage. It’s a preventative measure, often applied during construction, to manage moisture and redirect it, rather than completely blocking all water entry. Damp proofing is particularly useful for exterior walls and foundations.

Primary Use

  • Preventing rising damp

Damp proofing is crucial in preventing moisture from the ground from seeping into the structure and causing dampness, especially in the foundation.

  • Protecting building materials

By preventing moisture ingress, damp proofing helps protect building materials like concrete, brick, and wood from deterioration caused by water damage.

  • Maintaining structural integrity

Damp proofing helps maintain the structural integrity of a building by preventing issues like rot, decay, and efflorescence (salt deposits).

Specific applications

  • Exterior walls

Damp proofing is commonly applied to the exterior walls of a building to create a barrier against moisture from rain and soil.

  • Foundations

Damp proofing is essential for foundations, especially in areas with high water tables or where soil moisture is a concern.

  • Basements

It can be used in basements to prevent water from seeping through the walls and floor.

  • Terraces and Roofs

Damp proofing is also used on terraces and roofs to prevent water from penetrating these surfaces and causing leaks.

  • Parapets and Sunshades

These areas are also susceptible to water damage and can benefit from damp proofing.

Things to Consider

  • Damp proofing vs. Waterproofing:

 – While both aim to control moisture, damp proofing is a more basic level of protection, often focused on preventing moisture vapor and controlling liquid water from     entering through cracks or other defects. Waterproofing is a more robust system designed to create a complete barrier against water, even under pressure.

  • Material Selection:

 – Various materials can be used for damp proofing, including membranes, bitumen coatings, and specialized paints. The choice of material depends on the specific     application and the level of protection required.

  • Application:

 – Proper application is crucial for effective damp proofing. It’s often recommended to consult with a professional to ensure the right materials are used and the application is done correctly.

  • Professional Advice:

 – It’s always a good idea to seek professional advice before undertaking any damp proofing work, especially on the exterior of a building, as some paints can trap    moisture if not applied correctly.
